Although the activity as travel insurance company has only indirect effects on the natural and social environment, ERV International is regarded as a part of the tourism branch and sees an obligation to the protection of natural resources.
ERV is reinvesting in the nature and society by supporting environment protection and social projects.
Action instead of talking – help instead of destruction! With this mission the ERV started in 1991 it’s support to the environment protection project “Umweltgroschen”.
Since that time different environmental protection projects could be supported with about 500,000 Euro. “Umweltgroschen” project was supported by ERV until 2002.
With the support of street child's projects in developing countries, ERV focused it’s support in 2001-2002 for the first time on social projects. Projects in Bogotá/Colombia as well as in Capetown / South Africa were supported.
More than 40.000 Euro could be spent in 2001 and 2002 to the projects Gamines in Bogotá and Children's resource in Capetown.
The non-profit organization Salve Floresta focuses on providing support for social and ecological projects in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. The aim is to work with local people and protect the rain forest from exploitation over the long term.
Salve Floresta was supported by ERV in 2004-2009. With the donations from the first two years the Botanicum (lab) could be finished. A new school coach was financed the donations of 2006 and 2007. All together ERV donated untill December, 2009 more than 40,000 Euros.
Besides, not only ERV as a company was financially invoved, but in particular the ERV employees who have raised a large part of the donations.
