Appendicitis in New York, a road accident in India, a broken leg in Thailand - we've seen it all. Our global assistance network means that we can provide our customers with help and advice in an emergency no matter where they are in the world. In an emergency, travellers can contact our Medical Assistance team around the clock, where they can obtain organisational and medical assistance, for instance details of recommended doctors or hospitals. If necessary, we will contact your GP in order to be able to give the attending physicians a complete picture of the patient, thus making adequate medical assistance possible. We also take care of our customers' medical repatriation home or to a hospital in their home country; not just if this is a medical necessity, but even if our customers wish it. This is of course only possible if the patient is fit for transport.
Medical Assistance services
This services are provided on the one hand by almeda GmbH, the Assistance division of the ERGO Group. Furthermore, in Eastern Europe we cooperate with Euro-Alarm in Prague and in Southern Europe with Mesa in Madrid. And then there's the Euro Centres, our 'local agents' so to speak. The Euro Centres can be found all over the world and are in each case responsible for certain regions; for instance the Euro Centre in Cape Town is responsible for the African continent, while the Euro Centres in Bangkok and Beijing are responsible for China and South-East Asia, respectively.
In their regions, the Euro Centres regularly check the quality of the clinics and conclude agreements with doctors and hospitals that live up to medical requirements. They also check the invoices in line with the law of the respective country in order to rule out any disadvantages for travellers, for example as a result of excessive costs. This local knowledge is of vital importance when it comes to ensuring our customers' wellbeing.
